Mustangs Make Quarterfinals; Cinco Ranch, Hightower, Katy Tigers Roar

For Lamar Consolidated, it was a Rodgers brothers kind of playoff victory, as the Mustangs rolled over Nederland 49-22 on their way to the state 4A Division 1 Quarterfinals against Caney Creek.

For Cinco Ranch, Frankie Lugu ran for three touchdowns as the Cougars beat Westside 48-20 in spite of an all-star performance by Westside QB Michael Goodnight. Cinco Ranch faces a tough Pearland team in the 5A Division 1 Regionals.

The Hightower Hurricanes are in, too, knocking off Kingwood 49-35 to advance to the 5A Division 1 Regionals where they face Cypress Fairbanks.

In 5A Division 2, the Katy Tigers mauled Houston Memorial on Friday in a 38-0 shutout that moves them into the regionals next week to face Clute Brazoswood.
