20-5A WATCH LIST

• Westside — The Wolves are coming off the second district championship in school history and a 10-2 season. They return 11 starters (six on offense) and have a new coach — former offensive coordinator Mark Byrd.

• Chavez — Fresh off the first playoff appearance in school history, the Lobos return 14 starters — seven on each side of the ball.

• Madison — After a 6-5 season, the Marlins will be experienced on offense (seven returning starters) but young on defense (one).
Players

• Michael Goodnight — The Westside senior quarterback is entering his third year as a starter. He has good size (6-5) and was one of the area's top passers in 2006 with 2,452 yards and 22 touchdowns.

• Jamaal Johnson — Chavez's 6-3 receiver was a first-team all-district selection last year with 35 catches for 478 yards and eight touchdowns.

• Lee Almanza — Madison's huge (6-5, 300) offensive tackle will pave the way for the Marlins' running game.
